Hematopathology

Description:
The ACGME-accredited hematopathology fellowship program at the Division of Hematopathology of Indiana University School of Medicine is a one-year program, which offers a broad based training experience in diagnostic hematopathology. Training involves an in-depth pediatric and adult experience including peripheral blood, bone marrow, lymph node, spleen and other tissues involved with hematologic disorders. The year also includes designated rotations in general laboratory hematology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics and coagulation. The Division is actively involved in clinical oriented research particularly in the area of neoplastic hematopathology. Elective time for research projects and teaching activities is provided. Participation in departmental and clinical conferences is also encouraged. The case material is derived from a 1700 bed tertiary care academic medical center complex with active hematology/oncology and bone marrow transplant divisions.

Requirements:
Fellows are accepted for a training period of one year and must be Board eligible or certified in anatomic and clinical pathology or anatomic pathology.

Stipends:
Salary levels are commensurate with the the year of postgraduate training in pathology.
