Blood Bank
Description: The ACGME-accredited transfusion medicine fellowship program is a shared program between the Indiana Blood Center and the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The program offers comprehensive transfusion medicine physician training at a large blood center as well as transfusion service and apheresis training at the IU School of Medicine teaching hospitals (a 1700 bed tertiary care academic medical center complex) . The fellowship offers exposure to adult and pediatric transfusion services, adult and pediatric apheresis, and donor center operations and physician management. In addition, the Indiana Blood Center has three specialized laboratories: a donor testing laboratory, an immunohematology reference laboratory and an immunohistocompatibility laboratory which performs relationship and transplant testing.
Requirements: Fellows are accepted for a training period of one year, and must be Board eligible or certified in clinical pathology, hematology or internal medicine.
Stipends: Commensurate with level of postgraduate training.
